What brought Josephine to music therapy?
“I had always known I wanted to help people in my life. My family is full of people in the medical field, but I knew I wanted to help in a different way. A friend my senior year had mentioned that she wanted to do Music Therapy possibly. I had asked what that was which led me down a rabbit hole. At the end of that rabbit hole, I knew I wanted to do Music Therapy. My nearby university did not have a program for it, but I did get a scholarship to that university and did Music Education. After graduating from that program I still wanted to do Music Therapy, and applied to the in state program at Texas Woman’s University. Five years after my initial search I was able to begin my Master’s into Music Therapy and four years after that I graduated with a Music Therapy degree. I am immensely grateful to that friend, and the perseverance 18 year old me had and held on to for almost a decade!”
