The Details...

Infinity Music Therapy Services, a private practice located in Connecticut, is excited to offer an in depth look into the world of private practice. During this comprehensive internship, our interns build strong clinical, musical, and professional skills which will increase their marketability in the professional world. Infinity is comprised of a team of board certified music therapists that work collaboratively as a team to ensure that our clients receive high-quality music therapy services according to their individualized needs, strengths, and abilities.

Our interns are exposed to a diverse clientele comprised of children and adults, group and individual sessions, and a variety of diagnoses and needs. The intern’s exact caseload is determined closer to the start date based upon the clients currently being served by the practice. Due to the nature of private practice, an intern’s assigned clients may change throughout the internship. Infinity provides services for children and adults with developmental disabilities (Autism, Down Syndrome, Apraxia), mental health disorders (Anxiety Disorders, Addiction, PTSD), neurological needs (TBI, Cerebral Palsy, Alzheimer’s Disease), wellness needs (Music Therapy Assisted Childbirth) and more. The intern will report directly to Jona Jeffcoat, MT-BC, Director of Services and owner of Infinity. A minimum of forty-five minutes of individual supervision (outside of sessions) will be conducted weekly. The intern will have opportunities to observe our clinicians, co-treat alongside them, and receive direct supervision during music therapy sessions. In addition, the intern will assume a small caseload of private clients that they will work with independently. These cases will be reviewed during supervision. Written and verbal feedback on written work, clinical work, and professional skills will be provided. In addition, the intern will complete self-critique forms to assist in developing self-awareness and problem-solving skills.

Our Director of Services manages the Music Therapy Jobs and Hiring page. She is also a business coach manages a successfully growing private practice. The intern will have the opportunity to build their resume and interview skills under the supervision of a clinician who provides coaching services to the profession specifically in this area.

In addition to developing clinical skills in various music therapy sessions, the intern will also learn how to conduct assessments, write treatment plans, track data, and terminate cases. The intern will participate in public speaking events, will learn how to market music therapy, schedule appointments, coordinate with a treatment team and more.
