Rachel is a staff music therapist at Infinity. She earned her Master’s degree in Music Therapy and Counseling from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA, and her Bachelor’s degree in Developmental Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is currently pursuing a second Masters Degree in Business Management. Rachel provides music therapy services primarily to clients in the Watertown, Waterbury, and Bristol areas. She is nationally board certified through the Certification Board for Music Therapists.

Rachel completed her clinical internship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and at two senior care centers serving elderly immigrants in Philadelphia. During her internship, she gained extensive experience leading both individual and group sessions across a wide range of populations. At CHOP, she specialized in working with pediatric patients aged 2 to 20, focusing on children in complex care and cardiology units. Rachel’s expertise includes facilitating emotional expression for non-speaking patients through music improvisation and collaborating with physical and occupational therapists to support clients’ developmental goals and relaxation. She also led outpatient group sessions in the oncology unit, helping to provide socialization and a sense of normalcy for both patients and their families.

Prior to her internship, Rachel completed her practicum at Somerset Academy Early Learning Center, where she co-led group experiences for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, including neurotypical and neurodivergent children. Her work at Somerset focused on fostering early developmental milestones and supporting socio-emotional growth through music-based interventions. Additionally, Rachel has taught music lessons to school-aged children, specializing in ukulele and guitar.

With a background in classical music, Rachel’s primary instrument is the violin, but she is also trained in piano, guitar, voice, and rhythmic instruments. She enjoys a wide variety of musical genres, particularly singer-songwriter and folk music, and she is always open to exploring music from different cultures and languages.

Rachel’s therapeutic approach is highly adaptive, combining music improvisation with flexibility to meet the unique needs of each client. She is passionate about building meaningful connections with both her clients and their families and is committed to providing compassionate, client-centered care at Infinity.

What brought Rachel to music therapy?

“I started playing musical instruments when I was five years old, and music has been a prominent part of emotional expression and development in my life. As my interest in psychology and counseling grew, I started to explore ways to combine my understanding of psychology with my deep passion for music. I’ve always believed in the emotional depth and transformative power of music to foster personal growth and connection. This led me to pursue a career in music therapy after completing my undergraduate degree in psychology. Choosing this path has been one of the best decisions of my life, as I feel truly passionate about helping and connecting with others through music.”
